Terms of Use
Last updated 20 October 2026
1. Who we are and this agreement
BizBook is run by BizBook Technologies (Pty) Ltd (registration [CIPC registration number]), [Physical address], Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. You can reach us at [support email address].
These terms are an agreement between you and us. By creating an account or using BizBook you accept them, together with our Privacy Policy and our Credits and Refunds Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use BizBook.
Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under the Consumer Protection Act, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act or any other law that can’t be excluded.
2. What BizBook does
BizBook is a marketplace. It helps customers find local providers of goods and services, and helps providers find work. We match requests with providers, carry messages, keep a record of bookings and reviews, and help when something goes wrong.
Providers are independent businesses or self-employed people. They are not our employees or agents. When a customer books a provider, the agreement for the work is between the customer and the provider. The provider is responsible for the quality, safety and legality of their work, and for any licences, permits or insurance their trade needs.
We don’t guarantee that a provider will be available, or that any job will turn out well. We do check business registration numbers when providers ask for the Registered business badge, show honest reviews, and step in when a problem is reported.
3. Your account
You must be 18 or older to use BizBook. You sign in with your South African mobile number and a one-time code.
Keep your phone and codes to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us straight away at [support email address] if you think someone else is using it.
Give true details: your real name, the area you work or live in, and, for providers, your real business name and registration details. One person may have one account.
4. Requests, offers, quotes and bookings
Customers can request a service, book a time from a provider’s storefront, or accept a quote in a chat. Requests are sent privately to matching providers who are on duty. They are not posted publicly.
A booking is confirmed when a provider accepts a request at the customer’s budget, when the customer accepts a provider’s price or quote, or when a customer books a time with a provider who uses Instant booking.
Customers pay providers directly, in cash or another way they agree, for the full booked amount. BizBook does not take payment from customers.
When the provider marks a job done, the customer confirms it and confirms how much they paid. If the customer doesn’t respond within 48 hours, the job is treated as complete at the booked amount. If the customer paid more than the booked amount, the provider’s fee is adjusted to match what was paid.
5. Fees for providers
Using BizBook as a customer is free.
Providers pay BizBook a fee for each job they secure through BizBook: 10% of the job value, plus 15 credits for every R1 000 of the job value or part of it. For example, a R800 job costs 95 credits and a R2 500 job costs 295 credits.
Fees are paid in advance with BizBook credits (1 credit = R1), which providers buy in the app through our payment partner Yoco. The fee is taken when the job is secured. When a provider sends a price offer or a quote, the fee is held and is only used if the customer accepts. The Credits and Refunds Policy explains credits, holds and refunds in full.
We may change the fee with at least 30 days’ notice in the app. A change never affects jobs already secured.
6. Cancellations
Plans change, and either side can cancel a booking before the provider arrives. To keep things fair for everyone:
- Part of every fee pays for BizBook finding the job (15 credits per R1 000). That part is never refunded, whoever cancels.
- If the customer cancels, the provider gets the 10% part of the fee back. A cancellation within 2 hours of the job, or after the provider has set off, counts as a late cancellation. Three late cancellations in 30 days pause the customer’s requests for 7 days.
- If the provider cancels, they must give a reason. Their first cancellation in 30 days, made more than 2 hours before the job and before setting off, refunds the 10% part. Other provider cancellations are not refunded. Three provider cancellations in 30 days pause job offers for 7 days. The customer’s request goes straight to other providers.
- A second cancellation between the same customer and provider within 60 days is not refunded, because repeated cancellations can hide jobs being done outside BizBook.
If you think a pause or a refund decision is wrong, write to us at [support email address] and a person will review it.
7. Keeping work on BizBook
When BizBook connects a customer with a provider, the work that comes from that connection must be booked through BizBook. Don’t ask for, offer or arrange payment or bookings outside the app to avoid fees.
To protect you and to protect the marketplace, phone numbers, email addresses and links are hidden automatically in messages, quotes, requests, comments, posts, statuses and service descriptions, and business names may not contain them.
Reviews, ratings, dispute help and the Registered business badge only apply to work booked through BizBook. Taking work outside BizBook, or repeatedly trying to share contact details, can lead to suspension.
8. How to behave
Treat everyone with respect. You may not:
- harass, threaten, discriminate against or abuse anyone;
- post anything false, misleading, hateful, sexual, violent or illegal, or anything that infringes someone else’s rights;
- post photos of other people without their permission, or of work that isn’t yours;
- write fake reviews, review yourself, or pay or pressure anyone for a review;
- create more than one account, or use someone else’s;
- interfere with BizBook, copy its content in bulk, or try to get around its security or its rules.
Providers must only offer services they are qualified, licensed and equipped to provide, and must quote honestly.
9. Your content
You keep ownership of the photos, posts, reviews and other content you add. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, show and share that content within BizBook and to promote BizBook, for as long as it is on BizBook.
We may remove content that breaks these terms or the law.
10. Reports, disputes and suspensions
You can report a person, a post or a booking in the app. If something goes wrong with a job, use Report a problem on the booking. We look at both sides and may decide the job stands, cancel it, or give credits back.
We may warn, pause or suspend an account, or close it, if someone breaks these terms, puts others at risk, or the law requires it. Suspended people can still finish jobs already booked. Some pauses happen automatically (for example after repeated cancellations). You can ask a person to review any decision about your account by writing to [support email address].
11. Our responsibility
We work hard to keep BizBook running, safe and accurate, but we provide it as it is and can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors.
As far as the law allows, we are not responsible for the work a provider does or doesn’t do, for what customers and providers agree between themselves, or for indirect losses. Where we are responsible, our liability is limited to the fees and credits you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. This does not limit liability that the law doesn’t allow us to limit, such as for gross negligence or under the Consumer Protection Act.
12. Closing your account
You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Settings → Delete my account, once you have no job in progress. Before you delete it, you can ask us to refund unused credits you bought (see the Credits and Refunds Policy). The Privacy Policy explains what is deleted and what we must keep.
13. Changes and the law that applies
We may update these terms. We will tell you in the app before important changes take effect. If you keep using BizBook after that, the new terms apply.
These terms are governed by South African law, and South African courts have jurisdiction.
